Abstract

Over the past 15 years, Brazil has consistently introduced reforms to its educational system. Enrollments increased progressively in primary and secondary levels. Nevertheless, secondary education dropout rates are still extremely high and school performance students' is lower compared to many other countries. The Instituto Unibanco designed a program called "Jovem de Futuro", in an effort to address this issue by providing resources and assistance to school administration. . Initially, the program was randomly implemented across four states, Rio Grande do Sul, Minas Gerais, São Paulo e Rio de Janeiro, reaching about 100 schools. We believe that an evaluation of the program "Jovem de Futuro" can contribute to understand the driving factors of the high dropout rates and poor performance of students in this school level. (AU)
