Abstract

The increasing process flow of goods and people started in the '80s and expanded over the years of 90 and 2000, generating the idea that the Nation-State borders and sovereign issues would fall into disuse. This added to the fact that non-state actors have increased their importance in the international political scenario would have placed, to some scholars, the state in a weakness condition, especially in face of transnational criminal organizations. However, this study aims to show that not only the state is far from being a "victim" or be weakened, as moreover, uses these same actors to expand their political power and maintain their sovereignty and influence.
