Abstract

The importance of Geographical Informations System (GIS) and consequently spatial data acquisition and update motivate several researches about cartographic features detection. The spatial data acquisition and update are very important for urban planning, for example. Therefore, they should be performed fast and efficiently. In this way, several researches have the goal of extracting automatically the cartographic features from remote sensing images. This project has the objective of continuing the CARTOMORPH development making it faster, more robust and efficient. It is an open source system focused on mathematical morphology theory to facilitate the development of cartographic features extraction methods. The CARTOMORPH is under development in a national project funded by FAPESP (Project 2013/03768-7). The project introduces new functions for the CARTOMORPH system and the analysis of the algorithms to minimize the processing time and memory usage. The project will be performed at University of Alcalá (UAH) with a supervisor from the electronics department, which has experience in mathematical morphology and complexity algorithms analysis. (AU)
