Abstract

In this project, will be selected mutations in the pst operon that result in loss of the capacity to repress the transcription of the PHO-regulon, but maintain the ability to transport Pi. Deletions on Pi transporter will be constructed and the resulting strain will be used to select PHO-constitutive mutants. The locus of the mutation in these mutants will be defined by complementation tests and the affected gene will be sequenced by the Sanger method.
