Abstract

Introduction: The cardiovascular parameter related to obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) is already established in the literature. However, most of these studies is about patients with apnea-hypopnea index between moderate to severe levels. Objective: To evaluate the effect of OSAS on endothelial function. Methodology: The sample will be composed of both genders, aged between 18 and 65 years and body mass index <35Kg/m2. The control group will present apnea-hypopnea index (AHI), respiratory disturbance index (RDI) less than five; arousal index (ID) less than fifteen, and absence of complains in relation to sleep. The mild apnea will present AHI between 5 and 15, with or without excessive daytime sleepiness. The evaluation between groups will consist of physical examination, laboratory tests, overnight polysomnography and endothelial function testing (EndoPAT). For statistical analysis we use descriptive analysis (mean ± standard deviation) for analysis and GLM univariate test between groups.
