Abstract

Transformations in river-plain systems show a constant instability of natural systems from which they belong. Considering that the fluvial channel is an important element in these changes, this research aims to analyze and interpret the transformations in the morphology of Jacaré-Pepira and Jacaré-Guaçu rivers (São Paulo state, Brazil) and their respective floodplains, contributing to the understanding of equilibrium in geomorphology of equilibrium in geomorphology. It'll be made the analysis of morphometric parameters - longitudinal profile and morphometry of fluvial plains -, the analysis and the interpretation of non-orbital and orbital images, and the dating of surface formations (soil parent materials) with optically stimulated thermoluminescence (OSL) and grain and chemical analysis of such materials, with the use of the geosystemic theory. The final results will contribute to the discussions about equilibrium in geomorphology, an important variable in the understanding the fluvial morphodynamics, and will provide support to the understanding of the transformations of natural systems.
