Abstract The normative question is a fundamental topic of Robert Brandom's philosophy, who proposes a pragmatic, inferentialist, naturalistic and non-reductionist understanding of normative practices, theory he calls "pragmatism about norms." According to it, the norms governing the conduct of rational beings are imposed by practical attitudes of agents with normative capacities, interacting in social environments. However, Brandom does not describe how the process of institution of norms occurs and does not explain the cognitive abilities necessary to this process to be successful. Thus, the main objective of this research is to investigate and develop, with the support and contribution of the mind sciences, the process of instituting norms by social agents, based on the understanding of Brandom's rationalist inferentialism. | |
