Abstract

The purpose of this project is to analyse the musical criticism written by Mário de Andrade in A Gazeta. I will associate these early writings on composers, performers and music works with an analysis of the path of his development as a brazilian intelectual. This research aims to contribute to the study of modernism and brazilian music on the afore mentioned period, as the influence of this author is very significative to these fields.
