Abstract

The main objective is to understand the locational choices of tertiary activities and spatial practices of consumers derived from the urban and city restructuring. The globalization changes modify the relationships between social agents and urban space, and create more complex cities. Should be noted, among the changes, the promotion of consumption of goods and services, and the improvement of new technologies of communication and transportation that redefining the time and space use. The set of changes are impacting on the economic, employment and cultural structures on the cities and are altering the social life, specially the forms of consumption. In this regard, spatial practices are a reflection of the changes and show new forms of spatial organization and new strategies of appropriation, especially, temporal. The spatial practices linked directly to consumption of urban space will be addressed from a dual perspective. On one hand, the space - time practices of retail activities and basic services (like transport, education and health) which are those that allow the consumption of activities on space. The aim is to analyze their opening hours, which allows us to have a rhythms map of the city where and when economic activities are consumed, and not only the activities but also the urban space. The fieldwork and the questionnaire will be the applied methodology. On the other hand, space - time consumption practices of citizens will be seen from their paths through space and time and its correlation with the spaces occupied by tertiary activities. The methodology of this part of the project is mainly to survey. The subjects will be selected on the basis of age and spatial practices. Results will be analyzed through different dynamic maps and extensibility diagrams that allow observe the spatial practices using the space-time trajectories of the subjects.
