Abstract

This project aims at studying cultural relations between Portugal and Brazil through the analysis of the periodical "the Illustration Luso-Brazilian" addressing the idea of nation and its contribution to the formation of national identity in both countries during the years 1856, 1858 and 1859, when the magazine existed and circulated in Brazil and in Portugal. From the theme is intended to understand the performance of the journal as an actor and diffuser the idea of nationality as well as analyze the complex Web of cultural relations between Brazil and Portugal in the 19TH century 50.
