Abstract

The HIV infection and AIDS are diseases characterized by progressive and significant depletion of the immune system. The period of development of AIDS as well as the response to the various antirretroviral schemes until know developed vary a lot among the pacients. Several studies have been done in Brazil and worldwide over the years concerning the natural history of HIV/AIDS, the survival of patients with or without treatment and their use of different antirretroviral schemes since the release of the first drug for clinical use, the AZT. Thus, the aim of this study is delineate the profile of the patients with HIV infection or AIDS seen in the Infectious and Parasitary Diseases Service of FMB-UNESP. In order to do so, we will assess patients' clinical, immunological and virological evolutions from 1985 until 2013 so that we compare them among patients with different antirretroviral schemes. Mutations causing resistance to drugs found in the genotyping, mortality rates related to AIDS and the survival of the patients in relation to their therapy will also be assessed.
