Analyze of the cleft lip and palate phenotype between twins

Abstract

Independently the twins are monozygotic or dizygotic, cleft lip is the most common anomaly of this specific population group. According the most part of the published researches about this subject, the greater agreement occurs between the monozygotic twins. It could be highlighted the agreement in factors like genetic, hereditary, mutation and inactivation of the X chromosome. Furthermore, the transcriptions factors, growth factors and some molecules of signalization like TGF-² can influence determining the anomaly side compromised. In the case the malformation is not in agreement between twins, the genetic factor is also considered in etiology, especially when environmental factors aren't enough to explain such phenomena. Thus, the propose of this study is to analyze the occurrence of the cleft lip and/or palate and the agreement or disagreement in relation of the type of the cleft between pairs of twins that are enrolled in Hospital de Reabilitação de Anomalias Craniofaciais (HRAC-USP)and analyse dental subphenotypes between twins. To survey this data, 200 records of twins will be evaluated on which at least one of them have cleft lip phenotypic and under regular evaluation on HRAC-USP. To obtain this data it will be analyzed the diagnostic,pediatric,genetic and dentistry records.
