Abstract

This research project aims to examine the relationship of the results in environmental innovations to the financial performance of domestic firms. International researches dealing specifically the relationship between environmental performance and/or social financial performance indicate a positive relationship between the two constructs (PAVIE, 2008), however, the empirical results for the Brazilian reality are controversial (BUFONI, 2009), (JACQUES et al. 2012). Therefore, we intend to build an exploratory analysis from model proposed by Basso, Santos and Kimura (2013) about eco-innovation performance in the Brazil. The sample for this research comprises 136 companies with sustainability reports certified by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) in versions 3.0 and 3.1. in 2011. The methodological approach is quantitative with combined use of factor analysis and multiple regressions. The variables associated with environmental and social dimensions are: emission of greenhouse gases, emission of liquid effluents, energy consumption, water consumption, material consumption, generation and waste treatment; employee turnover, wage distribution, accidents work, absenteeism and gender equity. The financial results will be: ROI, ROS and Variation in Revenue. The central hypothesis that will guide this study is that the results of eco - innovations positively influence the financial performance of companies.
