Abstract

The research proposes aims to record and analyze current musical practices (music and dance) among the Macushi and Wapishana in the Rio Branco valley, with special attention to practice-informed rhythm of forró. Through the inventory of musical practices, it proposes to delineate and scan the existing symbolic regimes in different social plans, the villages routine and the interethnic context, permeated by the long history of political mobilization on the process of demarcation of the Raposa Serra do Sol area. The hypothesis that arises in check is that the process of "Indianization" of songs from the "whites" categories covered the establishment of "culture", "tradition "and" identity ".
