Abstract The purpose of the current research is to understand the way young people and adults read books on a computer screen. In the context of a "third reading revolution", the number of households owning a computer and having internet access is increasing, as well as the use of digital devices for reading and the time spent on the computer. We discuss how book reading on the computer screen appears as experience, and how it participates in the processes of formation of the individual. During the internship at the University of California - Berkeley's Program in Critical Theory, the research will benefit from the supervision of Professor Martin Jay, co-director of this Program and one of the world leading experts in Critical Theory. This stage will provide access to a bibliography still unavailable in Brazil regarding our theme and theoretical approach. It will also allow us to follow pertinent disciplines, expanding our knowledge on the Frankfurt School and contributing to the study and analysis of the phenomena involved in this research. (AU) | |
