Abstract

The 2,4- D (2,4- dichlorophenoxyacetic acid) herbicide is used for weed control in post -emergence and desiccation, however improper use may cause environmental hazards, mainly due to the contamination of soil and groundwater, as well to cause problems with drift sensitive crops. Reduce the damage caused by herbicide drift on crops not target is critical, since the area under cultivation with herbicide resistant crops is increasing. The research project will be installed in Piracicaba (SP), Department of Plant Production, School of Agriculture " Luiz de Queiroz ". The objectives are to: (I) curves prepared comparative dose - response between different doses of the herbicide 2,4-D (II) for drift of the herbicide in cotton (Gossipium hirsutum L.) and soybean (Glycine max L.) and (III) leaf characterization of cotton and soybeans after contact with the herbicide by scanning electron microscopy at different growth stages. That way you can determine the possible effects of the herbicide 2,4 -D sensitive crops and propose solutions to reduce damage. (AU)
