Abstract

This work aims to analyze the microscopic characteristics of the mineralized component of the peripheral ossifying fibroma (POF) and investigate the immunoreactivity of protein osterix (Osx) and STRO-1. Clinicopathological analysis of 30 cases diagnosed as FOP Laboratory of Histopathology will be performed, Department of Biosciences and Oral Diagnosis Institute of Science and Technology / UNESP São José dos Campos, in the period 2000-2010. Data collected will include: age, gender, location and size. The mineralized component of the FOP will be analyzed by conventional light microscopy, the protein expression of Osx and STRO-1 will be investigated by immunohistochemistry. The results will be correlated with the clinicopathological features.
