Abstract

The present research project aims to investigate the washback phenomenon - the influence or impact that exams may cause on teachers' and students' practices and attitudes, on textbooks, etc - on a Brazilian-high-school exam context (ENEM), examination which is also used for entering in Brazilian public universities. More specifically, the research aims to understand whether ENEM's writing-ability test has a potential washback on writing-studies courses of two different third-year classes of Brazilian high-schools in Campinas, a big city in the State of São Paulo. The project aims to make a qualitative analysis which will triangulate the data from interviews and questionnaires as well as annotations and audio recordings from the observations in class. (AU)
