Abstract

Physical inactivity has been considering as a major problem for the population since increases the risk of chronic diseases and obesity. There is great difficulty to people join and keep in programs aimed physical activity. Furthermore, barriers as lack of time, lack of motivation, socioeconomic and sociodemographic factors are reported. It is necessary to create public health policies that enhance the practice of physical activity in a structured way. This study aimed to analyze the attendance of adults and elderly people in a physical activity program. It is a longitudinal research design, with analysis of a supervised walking lasting six months. The volunteers will be 71 adults and elderly people from a region of high vulnerability of São Carlos, SP. The program will offer supervised exercise twice a week, lasting an hour. Classes will consist of recreational activities, walking and educational strategies for behavior change to physical activity. Sociodemographic characteristics, BMI, diseases and perceived health status will be evaluated. Waiver reasons will be analyzed during the intervention. Descriptive and survival analysis will be performed. It is expected to find the end of the program a waiver of approximately 40% with adherence associated with male, younger age, overweight, high number of diseases and lower perceived health. It is expected that the reasons for waiver are work and family commitments. (AU)
