Abstract

The interior point methods for the pre-dispatch generation and transmission loss minimization cc problem of a hydro power system with topology change and security constraints are developed. The resulting matrix structure is exploited aiming an efficient implementation. Considering that the load energy demand varies along the day, the generated power should follow such variation. In the hydro power pre-dispatch, the generating units have a daily generation target established by the long term planning. Given the generating variation, it becomes necessary to perform previously scheduled network topology changes in order to adapt it in order to remain stable. On the other hand, the security constraints prevent the most important contingency related to line transmission and generators shut down as long as critical transmission bounds points. Considering such additional constraints in the Brazilian pre-dispatch system gives a more fitted model according to the National Operating System. The implementation to be developed will be compared to an existing one that does not consider neither topology change or security constraints regarding efficiency and obtained solution quality. (AU)
