Abstract

The depression have been characterized as one of most major global health challenge. In the disease treatment, the Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) constitute a important pharmaceutical intervention. In particular, Paroxetine, Fluoxetine and Sertraline are antidepressants widely used in depression clinic treatment. This research project aims the development and characterization of novel crystalline forms of theses SSRI antidepressants. Since new crystalline solid forms possess different chemical and supramolecular aspects, the physicochemical properties are different. The new SSRI solid forms will be developed by molecular crystal engineering techniques through the design of salts taking into account the chemical, conformational and supramolecular features of the APIs under studies. The compounds thus obtained will be characterized by X-ray diffraction. These structural characterizations data will be compared to those coming from other characterization techniques such as IR and Raman vibrational spectroscopy, DSC and TGA thermal analysis, d optical microscopy and solubility.
