Abstract

Population ageing has been taking place in many countries across the globe and more recently in emerging countries as Brazil. In this context, Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) has become one focus of attention, including methods, products, services, and AAL software systems that support the everyday lives of elderly people, promoting mainly their independence and dignity. In AAL domain, a range of platforms and few reference architectures have been developed in recent years in order to support the development of such systems. However, these platforms and architectures are not still widely applied to support older people at home, due to the current solutions are not user-centric. Furthermore, the existing reference architectures intend to address all the scope of AAL domain, leading to spend a lot of time when these are instantiated for developing specific AAL systems, e.g., eHealth systems running in smart homes. In short, eHealth systems involve medical informatics applications (e.g., dissemination of health-related information, storage and exchange of clinical data, interprofessional communication, computer-based support, patient-provider interaction, education, health service management, or health communities and telemedicine) to facilitate the management and delivery of health care. In this perspective, the main objective of this PhD research project is to propose a reference architecture for user-centric Healthcare Supportive Home (HSH) systems i.e., systems that combine prevention tools and services, to alarm elder health conditions and to trigger preventive actions, based on perceived trends and behavioral patterns. It is desired with this project contributes to reuse design expertise and facilitates the development, standardization, evolution, and quality of HSH software systems. (AU)
