Abstract

This project aims at the study of the two-dimensional flow around a circular cylinder using Navier-Stokes equations in order to compute the distributions of the velocity, pressure and stress. We focus on a reduced model for the flow, which leads to a lower computational cost. From the numerical solution of the flow, our goal is to build a velocity basis that represents the solution of the problem and to project the equations that govern the problem (Navier-Stokes and continuity) onto this basis. The objective is to construct a model with a reduced number of degrees of freedom.
