Abstract

The doctoral research bound to this internship proposal seeks to reveal and discuss the deep relationship between Kant's anthropological interest and his philosophical project. Therefore, three specific Vorlesungen were chosen among those constitutive of the two parts of Akademie's 25th volume, which we understand to be connected to decisive moments of the Kantian philosophical project. They are: Vorlesung Collins, for being the first academic Anthropology discipline taught by Kant in 1772-73 (together with Vorlesung Parow); Vorlesung Menschenkunde, which was taught at the same period of the launch of Critique of Pure Reason's first edition (1781-82); and Vorlesung Busolt, taught by Kant little before the launch of Critique of Judgment (1788-89).Given this scenario, the internship proposal's general objective is to explore this third moment in light of the cultivation of the faculties' notion articulated throughout the primary research. Thereby, upon the preliminary translation of key extracts of Vorlesung Busolt, I am to follow up Kant's further reflections regarding the role of the faculty of imagination. Therefore, the starting point shall be an important footnote regarding such faculty in On the Use of Teleological Principles in Philosophy, published in 1788. Then, I am to address the radicalization of the functions of imagination based on the notion of the play of faculties, as portrayed in Critique of Judgment. (AU)
