Abstract

By rescuing the criticism of Sartre (The imagination) the Bergsonian notion of image, the research discusses the topic of consciousness and representation, with the objective of elucidating what is at stake in the proposal of Bergson (Matter and memory) of "reduction" of the matter to "one set of images"; a second time, with the objective of understanding the Sartrean approach of the "problem of image", the focus of the research is the appreciation of certain essential characteristics of the image (The imaginary) and the problematization of the Sartrean conception of imaginative consciousness as a denial of reality.
