Abstract

Risk behaviors and living conditions of college students have been the focus of research, particularly in the health area. However, are less frequent studies with students from other courses that investigate these aspects. This is a study of cross-sectional descriptive and analytical approach, with students enrolled in the year 2014, all series of the Advertising Course who agree to participate. The objective of this study is to investigate risk behaviors of students in this course in a private university, identifying factors that lead to this behavior, such as abuse of alcohol and drugs. Students respond to the research protocol with questionnaire with closed questions about sociodemographic characteristics, alcohol consumption, tobacco and illegal drugs, prevalence of auto accidents, use of substance by family and friends, pass rate for the use of friends. Risk behaviors of students will be investigated with a previously developed instrument (Kerr - Correa et al , 1998) and adapted for the population of this research. A descriptive analysis of categorical variables, and univariate and multivariate analysis will be performed seeking to identify risk and protective factors. Exposure variables are sociodemographic characteristics and living conditions of university students and the use of alcohol and be other drugs will be the outcome. Significance level standard p < 0.05 is assumed.
