Abstract

SnO2-based nanoparticles and films modified with M2+ ions to improve the density and M5+ ions to increase the conductivity will be synthesized and characterized as its multifunctional capability of the compounds obtained. The ceramic systems will be obtained by a chemical process from the calcination of the resulting resin mixture of stoichiometric amounts of the polymer solutions of the ions of interest. The preparation of films from nanoparticles occurred by electrophoretic deposition technique (EPD) followed by sintering in a microwave oven. Films and nanoparticles will be characterized morphologically and structurally by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), X-ray diffraction (XRD). Functional characterization of nanoparticles will be made for testing the photocatalytic activity in degradation of pollutants chemicals (aniline, 2-nitroaniline, 2,4-dinitroaniline) used as an intermediate in the manufacture of dyes. The varistor characterization of the films will be performed by electrical analysis using current continues to determination of voltage x current curves at room temperature and as function of temperature. Impedance spectroscopy measurements will be made using AC electrical response. The sensing activity will be assessed by the DC and AC electrical responses that the material present when in contact with different gases (H2 and O2) under controlled conditions of concentration, time and temperature conditions.
