Abstract

The project has two phases. The first one consists in use commercial packages to simulate the machines operations necessary to transport coal in Tubarão port from Vale. In a second phase, the developed simulation will be integrated with a genetic algorithm which will improve the equipment designation according to some efficiency measures. This project has a strongly connection with the project under development with Vale which number process is: 2010/51274-5. The project objective is the creation of a detailed simulation model for a coal port and integrates it with a genetic algorithm in order to find out the impact of specific equipment operations in the global port efficiency and also account some unexpected events like rain and machine problems.
