Abstract

Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA) is characterized by the abrupt onset of focal neurological signs and symptoms or global, creating the effect of hemiplegia and/or hemiparesis, one of the most common clinical signs of stroke, characterized by total or partial loss of function motor, resulting in various levels of impairment and disability. Objective: To investigate the effects of transcranial direct current stimulation in the primary motor cortex associated with gait training on the functionality of individuals post- stroke (CVA). Materials and methods: The sample population that will be part of this project will be composed of 34 individuals from the sample calculation considering the outcome variable gait cadence. The sample consists of individuals with a history of stroke spastic with a deficit in the functional capacity of the march being randomized into 2 groups: Group 1 (n = 17): gait training on the treadmill with transcranial stimulation placebo, Group 2 (n = 17): gait training on the treadmill with transcranial stimulation activates. The evaluation will consist of three-dimensional gait analysis and analysis of the quality of life of individuals. For three-dimensional gait assessment will use a system SMART-D®140- BTS Engineering with six cameras, two Kistler force platforms Platform model 9286BA and electromyography FREEEMG®- BTS Engineering wirelless system with four channels. With regard to intervention, this will be done in two ways, with the training gear that will be held for two consecutive weeks, with five training sessions per week, for 30 minutes per session and transcranial stimulation to be performed during training marching with an intensity of 2 mA. It is noteworthy that placebo application will include the placement of the electrodes but the chain is not active. The results will be statistically analyzed assuming a significance level of 0.05 (p<.05). (AU)
