Abstract

It is known that a complex interaction between subgingival microbiota and host response in the establishment and progression of periodontal destruction, especially in individuals with environmental factors. This study aims to evaluate the histomorphometric and biochemical point of view, the effects of different concentrations of alcohol on serum phosphatase alkaline, in periodontal tissues and in the evolution of experimental periodontitis. For this, we used 160 male rats divided into 4 groups of 40 animals each: control group (C = 40): normal rats with experimentally induced periodontitis; Alcohol Group 14 % (A-14 = 40): rats with experimental periodontitis induced and exposed to alcohol at a concentration of 14 %, Group 25 % (A-25 = 40): Rats with induced and exposed to alcohol at a concentration of 25 % experimental periodontitis; alcohol Group 36 % (A-36 = 40): Rats with induced and exposed to alcohol at a concentration of 36 % experimental periodontitis. The animals Alcohol Group received 30 days before the induction of experimental periodontitis alcoholic solution at concentrations of 14 %, 25 % and 36 % v/v. After this period, will be induced experimental periodontitis in all animals in the mandibular first molar with random distribution between them. Blood samples prior the start of administration of alcoholic solutions and all you experience to evaluate the levels of alkaline phosphatase, aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase in all groups moments will be obtained. Ten animals of each experimental group are euthanized at periods of 3, 7, 15 and 30 days after induction of experimental periodontitis. The jaws containing the first molar which was induced experimental periodontitis, will be collected and maintained in solution paraformolaldeído 4%. After laboratory processing histomorphometric analysis will be performed on the furcation. The data collected will be evaluated statistically with a significance level of 5%.
