Abstract

Even though there is a great diversity of species in the São Francisco river, studies about the parasites that can affect this species are rare, including the species from Anostomidae. Therefore, the present research's objective is the taxonomical and ecological study of the metazoan parasites in Leporinus obtusidens collected from São Francisco River (S 20.3414; O 45.9824), Piumhi-MG, Brazil. 40 specimens of L. obtusiends will be examined during the period between June 2014 and February 2015, the samplings will happen bimonthly and at random. The fishes will be necropsiated and the parasites collected will be quantified, prepared and assembled for taxonomic determination and calculation of population and community description. (AU)
