Abstract

Information Science as an interdisciplinary field provides an essential theoretical basis for the study of culture and communication informational. In this perspective, it is necessary to deepen studies being conducted in this area, aiming to discuss and reflect on the theoretical and methodological comprehensions constructed during the existence of this scientific field. However, it is evident that there is a certain lack about the studies directly focused on interdisciplinarity of Information Science, more specifically in relation to its subsidies for studies of culture and communication informational. Seeks to analyze the theoretical construction in the field of Information Science, with respect to its interdisciplinary, aiming to evidence its contribution to the study of culture and communication informational. With this purpose it is intended: to analyze concepts, currents and approaches to interdisciplinarity of informational culture and informational communication within the Information Science; analyze characteristics and attributes applied the conception of 'Information Society and Knowledge Society'; analyze the contributions of the Information Science area with regard to its interdisciplinary culture and communication informational. To this end, an exploratory qualitative study, whose focus is exploring and rescue disseminated theoretical knowledge about the theme in the field of Information Science. With respect the analysis of the information collected, we opted for the research method 'Content Analysis', specifically the 'Categorical Analysis', since it enables us to propose inferences and interpretations related to the objectives proposed in the research. It is believed that the results of the research can generate new knowledge for the Information Science field to demonstrate the theoretical and methodological constructs propitiated by this interdisciplinary approaches and the concepts of culture and communications informational subfield, from the moment that the adopted it as object of investigation.
