Abstract

At the current stage of capitalism, the country search is the strengthening of economic blocks through regional integration. This search is due to the need to strengthen the regional economy with the aim of increasing competitiveness in the global context with the conquest of new markets. In this debate, it is important to emphasize the role of transport infrastructure and spatial interactions in promoting regional integration it is through them that establishes the dialectic between fixed and streams that contribute to greater territorial fluidity from the technical development in the territory. This dialectic generates changes in the role by cities and the urban network, whose hierarchy can be modified due to the strategic in the cities choice to be part of the projects of international integration. In this context the objective is to foster arguments to discuss the role of cities in the urban network through spacial interactions while recurring of integration Brazil - Paraguay considering the transport infrastructure works proposed in Group 3 (Asunción - Paranaguá) inserted in the Capricorn Hub in the Initiative for South American Regional Integration (IIRSA) and its importance to the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR) and Brazil.
