Abstract

This research project is linked to the Young Researcher project 2013/17819-1 recently approved by FAPESP. The development of the project will be divided into two parts. The first consists in the construction and development of a new optical spectroscopy laboratory. Student will be in contact with all the steps. The room where the laboratory will be installed with the necessary adjustments have been finalized. Products purchased are scheduled for delivery between July and August of this year. Thus, the student will participate from the assembly, integration, alignment, initial testing until the completion of the facilities and the time that the laboratory will be fully operational. The second step, which is scheduled to take place between november 2014 and september 2015 will be designated for studies of the physical principles underneath the experimental technique and optical studies in semiconductor samples. These investigations will be made mainly as a function of temperature and magnetic field in the spin polarization, with the behavior observed through the photoluminescence emission in regular regime, or the lifetime of electronic carriers. This second feature will be studied with the equipment that will be purchased within the multiuser project (2014/07375-2) implemented within the young researcher project, which is under review by FAPESP. The facilities being installed will allow studies that up to now have been made exclusively abroad, as the behavior of the lifetime of excitons in semiconductor nanostructures as a function of an applied magnetic field . The student linked to this project will concentrate his efforts on investigations of samples of magnetic semiconductor nanostructures that have been proposed over the young researcher project.
