Abstract

This research aims to analyze historic social factors and their relation to accessibility in its six dimensions to older people with physical disabilities. With aging and disability also expressions of the social question, the conditions of each individual will be analyzed along with his life story. The study is relevant because it is an emerging field by breaking paradigms aimed at better living conditions for the people. The methodological reference used to conduct investigative work in this study will be based on the qualitative paradigm, through oral history, by Thompson (1998), in view of selection of narratives. We will adopt the bibliographic, documental and exploratory research with quantitative and qualitative approaches in social and historical perspective to know how it is being handled, applied and discussed the issue of accessibility for elderly people with physical disabilities. Then, the field research will be constructed in public and private institutions to Long-Term Care for aged (LTC) and Center for the Elderly, with older people through semi-structured interviews formulated in categories, in order to know the history of these people and the current conditions of them. After completing the field research the data will be organized into thematic categories with the ultimate goal for discuss proposals that meet this demand in order to contribute on the debate about the need a change in society for the implementation of public policies to older people with disabilities.
