Abstract

Air pollution causes damage to the health of human beings, but they are few studies undertaken in medium-sized cities. This study aims to estimate the association between exposure to environmental pollutants and hospital admissions for cardiovascular (ICD- 10 I00.0 to I99.9) and respiratory (ICD- 10 J00.0 to J99.9)diseases, in the city of São José dos Campos - SP. It is an ecological time-series study with data obtained from DATASUL and Cetesb in all age groups, irrespective of gender in the period from 01.01.2012 to 31.12.2013. Generalized linear model Poisson regression model will be used to estimate the relative risks of exposures in the outcome - hospitalization. Lags from zero to five days will be considered because the effects of exposure to pollutants can be shown not only on the same day as in later days. Models with an isolated pollutant and all pollutants simultaneously adjusted for minimum temperature and relative humidity will be built.
