Abstract

Recent studies have found associations between exposure to air pollutants and respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. However, the relationship between air pollution and stroke has not been adequately studied. The aim of this study is to estimate the association between exposure to air pollutants and deaths from stroke in people of all ages in the city of Sao Jose dos Campos-SP. It will be an ecological study of time series. Data on deaths due to stroke will be obtained by SIM. Data on daily levels of pollutants particulate matter, sulfur dioxide and ozone will be obtained by CETESB, temperature, humidity and pressure will be obtained by FUNCATE. It will be develop a statistical analysis by generalized linear models for Poisson regression, obtaining the relative risks and their confidence intervals 95%.(AU)
