Abstract

The official preservation of railway heritage in São Paulo started with the protection of Bananal Train Station, in 1974. Before it's federal protection, the Conselho de Defesa do Patrimônio Histórico, Arqueológico, Artístico e Turístico (CONDEPHAAT) recognized, between 1968 and 1998, a total of 17 (seventeen) railway structures. The high number of recognized railway station, it's appointed by specific bibliography as a nostalgic tendency and unitary treatment of parts. Thus, this project proposes the study of official preservation of railway heritage. Through documentary fonts, the aim of this study is to understand the rating dynamics and conflicts in Perus Pirapora Railway process. Different from the previous cases, this process didn't reveledrelevant aspects for the architecture but, instead, this is the first recognition of railway collection by CONDEPHAAT in São Paulo. The work is based on the hypothesis that this process of recognition has promoted the expansion of the patrimonial elements considered for the study and protection of this type of heritage. (AU)
