Abstract

In the field of Performing Arts, researches on artistic languages are often related to the technical training of the artist and scene composition, with the biggest developments being about Theater. As to Dance, the investigations on choreography and the development of the body through technical work also overshadow another area, namely the study of the Reception - a very relevant level to discussing dance as a language, as languages, to communicate, depend upon the one communicating, but also on the one receiving the communication: the audience, in this case. The research proposed here is inserted in this field, starting from the discussion of the structures pertained to dance language and proceeding to an applied study of the verification of these structures. From the applied work on theoretical investigation of the elements related to dance as a language, the development of an analysis methodology can be produced, one that is presented as an organized, systematic approach to dance, able to be reproduced towards artistic forms other than the ones presented in this project.
