Abstract

The popular Brazilian music is a rich source of representation of our cities. This research considers the city as a social product, where popular music is a means of representing its logic and dynamics. Through songs, we intend to investigate urban conflicts, the social relations established in the city, the relations of conflict with the urban space and urban production. The objective of this research is to identify urban conflicts represented by songs of Brazilian popular music. To fulfill this study, the student will develop its activities as follows: bibliographic research, research on Brazilian popular music, systemization of information, identification, analysis and contextualization of urban conflicts and its graphical representation. This research intends to contribute to the production of knowledge about urban violence and its representation by Brazilian popular music.
