Abstract Two-dimensional quantum walks are particularly relevant because they allow implementations of quantum search algorithms, which are more efficient than their classical counterparts. The aim of this project is to propose a two-dimensional discrete quantum walk implementation employing optical- and electromechanical systems. Specifically we propose a quantum walk implementation on a torus combining cyclic walks in the phase space for two individual degrees of freedom with analysis of resilience to dissipative effects.
