Abstract

This project aims the study of large scale structures in the local Universe, focusing on superclusters of galaxies. We also aim to investigate the properties of galaxies which constitute these structures to analyze environmental effects in several scales. We shall use the surveys 2MPZ, GAMA/DR2 and data from SDSS stripe 82, which present redshifts for more than one million of galaxies in the local Universe. Initially we will develop a code to identify large scale structures based on Bayesian statistics. The continuity of the structures identified in the North and South Galactic Hemispheres will be studied taking into account the high extinction of the Galactic plane. The properties of galaxies will be obtained by using a spectral synthesis code with Principal Component Analysis (PCA), developed during the PhD of the candidate. A detailed analysis of the morphology-density relation, by considering different galaxy environments, will be carried out for each supercluster. A possible correlation between this relation and other supercluster properties will be also investigated. In this way, we can consider galaxy environments in structures with different properties. The mass function of superclusters, which represents an important constraint for cosmological models, will be obtained though calibrations based on simulations. (AU)
