Abstract

In recent years there has been great interest in the development of hierarchical zeolites, are materials having at least two levels of porosities. Hierarchical zeolites have an improved catalytic activity in reactions suffering from steric and/or diffusional limitations. Moreover, the secondary porosity oers an ideal space for the deposition of additional active phases and for functionalization with organic molecules. A variety of strategies have been developed to generate a secondary porosity in zeolites. Among these, the use of organosilanes as structure directing agent is one of the methodologies used for secondary porosity. The advantage of this type of surfactant is having a silane group to interact more effectively with the zeolite species. This technique has been successfully applied for traditional zeolites, but there are few studies reporting the synthesis using lamellar zeolites. The lamellar zeolites have attracted attention recently due to their high external surface area, and their catalytic results are better than conventional zeolites. Based on this, investigate the formation of hierarchical structures using zeolitic lamellar precursors appears to be very interesting. Another way very effective to create secondary porosity is using emulsions. The formation of droplets of hydrophobic liquid in an aqueous medium will be responsible for generating the pores after calcination stage. To stabilize the emulsion and control the size of the droplets is common to use surfactants, then, it seems suitable to use organosilane as the emulsion stabilizer and also organizer agent of the zeolitic precursor around the droplets stabilized. In this context, this project proposes to use two zeolitic lamellar precursors in the formation of hierarchical structures, MCM-22 (P), PREFER and MFI. Will be investigated the use of organosilanes as directing agent of secondary porosity and their performance as stabilizing surfactant in emulsions to formation of macropores. (AU)
