Abstract

The sub-project proposed to be developed during the research period at the University of Washington, Seattle Campus, involves the improvement of theoretical and practical aspects of the real-time operation planning of distribution systems in order to mitigate risks from transactions in the spot market. A specialized Optimal Power Flow (OPF) algorithm must be applied to solve the problem. In this project, problem's constraints and basic functions are gradually being incorporated into the OPF model, but there is an important aspect related with rules and interactions of active and reactive power markets in distribution systems with DG that must be taken into account in order to give more realism to the proposed methodology. This is one of the most important approaches in the research sub-project proposed to be developed by the scholarship holder during the internship at the University of Washington. (AU)
