Abstract

The Doctorate internship, to be carried out at the Universidade Autónoma Metropolitana - Xochimilco (UAM-X), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Luciano Concheiro Borquez, has as its primary objective to study and understand how decolonization studies are being developed through the research of Mexican academics, on the topic of national indigenous social movements. Debate on this topic has become vital to the Science of Geography in dialogue with other fields of knowledge, such as, the Social Sciences, Anthropology and History. The Doctorate research currently in progress, "Entre o tekoha e o tekoha guasu: os acampamentos de retomadas territoriais no estado de Mato Grosso do Sul", indicates that a multidisciplinary analytical approach contributes significantly to understanding the strategies of resistance of the Guarani and Kaiowá peoples. Further, universities in Mexico, especially UAM-X, have a long tradition of working in indigenous and decolonization studies, as is evidenced through the perspective of the UAM-X's program, decolonization studies and indigenous movements.
