Abstract

This research aims to investigate the emergence of the relationship between the process of patrimonial nature, their offer as a tourist destination and the concession agreement of tourism services. Natural areas can be protected by cultural institutions such as UNESCO, through seals or the promotion of natural sites as World Heritage Natural, according to their aesthetic, ecological or scientific values. We believe that the protection and appreciation of these areas is influenced by spatial ideologies able to create distinct territories, and one way to incorporate them into economic activities is by tourist exploitation. The provision of tourist services, in some cases, has been granted or outsourced to private companies, which also contributes to qualify these Natural Heritage as liminal spaces in which mixes the concepts of public space with private use.
