Abstract

The purpose of this study is the study of atmospheric conditions associated with heavy rains, identifying objectively previous atmospheric condition and during episodes of extreme rainfall, aimed at improving conceptual models associated with precipitation extremes over Sao Paulo. For this, the principal component analysis of atmospheric parameters on a large scale in South America is used, based on reanalysisfrom the CFSR model, for the days when precipitation is considered severe. Will be used rainfall data obtained from pluviometers in Sao Paulo, provided by the national water agency for the determination of precipitation thresholds. This study should be made from principal component analysis of large-scale atmospheric parameters over South America, based on reanalysis the CFSR model, for the days when precipitation is considered severe. Rainfall data obtained from pluviometer in Sao Paulo, provided by the national water agency will be used for the determination of precipitation thresholds. (AU)
