Abstract

Purpose: to compare the results of two procedures to assess the frequency of the disfluencies in stuttering speech, one being traditional and another developed through an application. Methods: Participants will be two adults who stutter (AWS1 and AWS2) and 10 speech-language pathology students (SLPE). Speech samples from AWS1 will be used in training of the assessment, while the AWS2 speech samples are used for the experiment. The research procedures will be grouped into four steps: (1) data collection of identification, speech samples of AWS, fluency assessment and classification of stuttering severity, (2) edition of the speech samples of the AWS, and the transcription and preparation instructions on the label to be used to annotate disfluencies; (3) data collection of the speech-language pathology students (SLPE) group, the traditional fluency assessment and the questionnaire, and fluency assessment through the use of "Disfluency Counter" tablet application and questionnaire, and; (4) data analysis of assessment carried out by SLPE. Analysis of the results: it will be carried out using statistical analysis of data. Expected results: We can suppose that regarding to the results of questionnaires; the SLPE will write that the fluency assessment through the use of "Disfluency Counter" tablet application will be faster and easier than the traditional fluency assessment. We also believe in quantitative terms, the concordance rates of assessment undertaken through the application and the traditional assessment will be similar. It can be assumed that the time to be spent for the realization of traditional assessment will be greater than the time spent to be performed by the application. (AU)
