Abstract

The BODIPYs (boron dypirromethene) are fluorescent compounds with a wide range of technological applications. These compounds have been highlighted in the literature in the photochemical and synthetic area. However, the chemical reactivity of these fluorophores are not fully understood. Therefore, we will study chemical reactivity of BODIPYs and develop a library of new fluorescent compounds. In this regard, we will use the chemistry of diazonium salts applied to BODIPYs, exploring a number of perspectives for structural diversification of these fluorophores. This strategy has not been applied to BODIPYs yet and has great potential for the development of compounds for chemical, biochemical and biological interest. (AU)
