Abstract Vespidae comprises more than 5,000 described species among six subfamilies: Euparagiinae, Stenogastrinae, Masarinae, Eumeninae, Polistinae and Vespinae. The family is commonly known by the social species, variety of nest architecture and by being a study model for the evolution of the social behavior. However, the most diverse but less studied subfamily among vespidae is Eumeninae with more than 3,500 described species, globally distributed within about 210 genera. Eumenes is a genus described by Latreille in 1802 and has for the New World region 16 valid species split in two subgenera: Eumenes and Zeteumenoides. The goal of this project is to perform a taxonomic review of all the species of Eumenes from the New World region, with the production of distributional maps for each taxon, a taxonomic catalog and a identification key for the species of the genus.
